Spirit of Burren: The Brow Tour
Whilst the previous two tours cover the area that is technically the Burren it is impossible to ignore the inspiring characters who lived on the edge of the Burren, synonymous with the Celtic Revival.
The massive copper beech tree in the old walled garden of Coole Park bears witness to the rich mix of intelligentsia that visited, their signatured etched on its trunk for posterity.
Lady Gregory of Coole Park, Edward Martyn of Tullira Castle, WB Yeats and others all contributed to the renaissance of interest in theatre, writing and folklore in the late nineteenth century.
They understood the magic of the landscape they lived in, and this tour takes you to their homelands (when access allows), their burial sites, and places associated with their writings along with mythological sites that inspired them. Jackie has unique interpretations on the landscape of south Galway that she will include in her book the Spirit of Burren. By availing of this tour you can hear it in advance!
